The NetVanta 1000 series combines a 24-port Fast Ethernet Layer 2 switch , full featured IP router, modular WAN interface, stateful inspection firewall and optional Virtual Private Network capability in a 1U, 19" rackmount enclosure.  The Enhanced Feature Pack option offers Industry Standard IPSec Virtual Private Network capability supporting 500 tunnels and DES/3DES and AES encryption.

There are four models in the series:

• NetVanta 1224R - 24 port switch-router combination
• NetVanta 1224R PoE - 24 port switch-router combination with industry standard 802.3af power over ethernet to all ports
• NetVanta 1224STR - Stackable 24 port switch-router combination with Gigabit uplink
• NetVanta 1224STR PoE - Stackable 24 port switch-router combination with industry standard 802.3af power over ethernet to all ports and dual Gigabit uplinks
